Sneak Peek: Python heels for Spring

lkbennettshoes

I’m trying to get into the habit of planning my wardrobe ahead of time instead of shopping in season all the time. Not only does planning lend the opportunity to save with markdowns, but it also gives me some pieces to look forward to when the weather turns. I stopped buying winter clothes at the end of November and started stocking up for spring. This turned out to be a great idea when I was home for the holidays because there just so happen to be some great outlet stores near where my family lives, and there were some serious after-Christmas sales happening on spring/summer items. My favorite find was this pair of L.K. Bennett python heels that I seriously can’t wait to break out when it’s warm enough. I think they’ll look just as great paired with a flirty dress as they will with a pair of cuffed jeans! What are you looking forward to wearing this spring?

Peep Toe Season Has Begun!

The big day is finally here! Royal Wedding? What Royal Wedding? I’m talking about the one-year anniversary of Non-Plastic, guys! Kate and William should be forever grateful that their anniversary will be aligned with my blog’s forever (or maybe they are just grateful that they get to be royal and choose which palace they’d like to take up residence in. Whatever).

On that note, let’s turn our attention to shoes and away from the most over-examined marriage in history. With the weather in New York finally warming up (let it be known that I didn’t wear a jacket yesterday!), it’s time for legs and feet to come out of hibernation and out into the sunlight. After a quick at-home pedicure a few nights ago, I finally felt confident enough to break out a new pair of peep-toe kitten heels that I bought recently (pictured top left). I love that the heels on these shoes are comfortable enough to do some walking in, but the super-feminine details keep them from looking like your standard pair of run-around-town shoes. I’m not sure where I’d wear the sparkly pink Kate Spade heels, but I’m imagining them with a chic white cocktail dress at an evening poolside rooftop party. Because, you know, I go to so many of those.

Shoe Love: Marais USA

I’m in the market for some new shoes — big time. I tend to be one of those people who wear shoes into the ground, and my go-to flats are definitely feeling a little drafty lately since there is a hole in the toe. Oops!

A few weeks ago, I saw the shoe collection from Marais USA, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since. The shoes are really cute and not overly expensive. The thing I like most about them is that they have really clean and simple designs, which I think would translate into a really easily wearable pair of shoes!

The Two-toned Flat is a great basic flat with a kid suede toe. I’d love them in the cranberry color to replace my favorite pair of red flats that are falling apart!

Another great basic with a sporty side-cutout! The Mercer Flat comes in a pretty sick key lime color that would instantly breathe life into an otherwise plain outfit.

This Kitten Heel style has everything a great warm-weather shoe should have — bright color, a heel low enough to run around in, and plenty of peep toe to show off your pedicure. And even better, it’s on sale right now!

Sunday Steppin’: L.A.M.B. Crepe Bootie

As a seventh and eighth grader, I was the self-proclaimed BIGGEST fan of Gwen Stefani. Ever. I went to every No Doubt concert, wore white tank tops with my bra straps hanging out, and even once bought a tube of pink hair mascara and attempted to color my entire head with it (for the record, my mom was still pissed even though it was temporary).

Now that I’m a little older, I’m so thrilled to see that my style still really aligns with my teenage hero — I’m constantly impressed with the amazing shoes and clothing that Gwen designs each season, and this week’s featured shoe, the L.A.M.B. Crepe Bootie, is one of my current favorites. I love the combination of leather and mesh, and I think they would look best paired with a colorful print dress. The neutral color is nice for toning things down, but the mixed textures still keep it interesting. What shoes are you lusting over today?

Sunday Steppin’: Jeffrey Campbell Tick Fab Distressed Wedge

Arguably, my favorite pair of Spring/Summer shoes in my closet is a pair of natural-colored leather high-heel Maryjanes by Jeffrey Campbell. They are the absolute perfect pair of casual heels and completely comfortable, but they make my legs look 5 miles long. I’m not sure what it is with Jeffrey Campbell and their ability to create really awesome Spring/Summer shoes,  but I’ve got my eye on three pairs right now. This one, a variation on the popular Tick style, is my absolute favorite.

Ironically, the leather is the same color as the pair that I already own and love. But what really does it for me is this amazing woven heel, which reminds me of those little loom kits that I had as a kid that you could weave potholders with, remember?

Right now, I can only seem to find these babies on Singer22.com for $150. Ah, if only I could afford to splurge a little on shoes right now! I’ll be keeping an eye on them for sure!
